Hand Woven Wool Wrap using Colourful Hand Spun Yarns. Size 172/35cm. Woven on Rigid Heddle Loom.

£155.00

I’ve called this subtly textured, hand woven purple wrap, Verbena. The Verbena produces tight clusters of lilac and purple flowers, which attracts bees and butterflies throughout its flowering season.

I hand carded various fibres on my drum carder, then wound off sections to create colourful little rolags from which to spin on my e-spinner, then weave on my rigid heddle loom.

This wrap truly is one of a kind. It features an abundance of wild purple shades against a background of soft, late summer colours along with little textured pieces of sari silk. I’ve also added a few hand dyed wool locks throughout the weave to create fun and interest.
,
The fibres used are - colourful Merino wools, Sari Silk, Mohair and a few undyed Wensleydale Wool Locks for the weft and Linen and Cotton for the warp. All fibres are superwash and nylon free.

This wrap feels lovely and snug and will certainly keep the cold air and blustery winds at bay! It's large enough to pull up over your head and ears, and still keep your neck and shoulders covered. Alternatively, it could be used to throw over a chair, or lay across your knees whilst sitting next to a crackling winters fire.

Measurements excluding tassels approximately - 172/35cm.

The two warp ends have been finished off with hem stitch, which keeps the wrap secure and decorative.
*The shawl pin does not come with the wrap.

Care Instructions -
Wool does not need frequent washing. A simple airing outside on a dry day should be sufficient. If you feel your item needs washing, soak in a bowl of warm water using a no rinse wool wash. DO NOT agitate, or the wool will felt. Carefully squeeze out excess water (do not wring), roll up in a towel and stand on it - this will help a lot! Re shape and lay flat to air dry outside on a warm day. Do not dry over a radiator. Whilst not in use, I suggest carefully wrapping your woolly item in a plastic bag and sealing it until required.
