Wildmother Shawl Knitting Kit

The Wildmother Shawl…

The Wildmother is a triangular shawl, designed as a relaxing knit with moments of mindful knitting in mind. Lateral braids accompany rows of squishy garter for the body of the shawl, which is finished with an i-cord edging. The inspiration for Katt’s shawl came from her love of nature and a certain Critical Role character’s beloved deity, the Wildmother. Being intertwined with nature, Katt knitted both versions in gorgeous natural yarns.

A while ago, Katt from @kattweaver contacted me to ask if I would like to collaborate with her on her Wildmother shawl. Katt had seen my BFL/Gotland DK range and decided that this was the yarn she wanted to use to launch her design into the world for other knitters to make too. The original was knit using beautiful hand spun yarn from @patonanddaughter who are based in rural Sussex.

Both the Bluefaced Leicester and Gotland wools are classified as fine with a good lustre. When these gorgeous wools are blended together, you are rewarded with the softest yarn! The white BFL and the silvery, lightly speckled effect of the Gotland produces an absolutely beautiful, slightly heathered yarn. Once dyed, the natural light and dark shades of the wools show through creating depth of colour.

This gorgeous yarn produces a lovely drape with a slight halo.

Care: Handwash in luke warm water using a wool wash such as Eucalan, or a similar no rinse solution. Gently squeeze out excess water in a towel and lay flat to air dry.
